Stages of Dental Implant Procedure:
-
Initial Consultation:
-
The dentist or oral surgeon assesses the patient’s dental health to determine suitability for implants.
-
The procedure is explained, and the patient’s questions are answered.
-
-
Treatment Plan:
-
A customized treatment plan is developed, outlining the necessary steps and timeline.
-
-
Tooth Extraction (if needed):
-
If the damaged or missing tooth is still present, it may need to be extracted before placing the implant.
-
-
Implant Placement:
-
The implant is surgically placed into the jawbone.
-
The surgeon makes a small incision in the gum tissue to access the jawbone and drill a hole for the implant.
-
-
Osseointegration (Bone Fusion):
-
Over the next few months, the implant fuses with the jawbone, creating a strong foundation for the replacement tooth.
-
-
Abutment Placement:
-
Once fusion is complete, a small connector (abutment) is placed on top of the implant to hold the crown securely.
-
-
Dental Impression:
-
A custom impression is taken to create a replacement tooth that perfectly fits the patient’s mouth.
-
-
Crown Placement:
-
The artificial tooth (crown) is attached to the abutment, completing the procedure.
-
-
Follow-Up Appointments:
-
The patient will need to visit the dentist for check-ups to ensure proper healing and functionality.
